Lanark County Media Release - Land Division Committee: November 29, 2022
For immediate release Nov. 29, 2022
Long-time land division committee members acknowledged
Lanark County CAO Kurt Greaves, Clerk Jasmin Ralph and County Planner Julie Stewart recognized members of the 2019-2022 land division committee for their years of service and dedication to the county at a recent meeting.
The committee is made up by three non-elected citizens appointed for a four-year term coinciding with the term of council. It is funded entirely by fees collected during the land division application process. Under the Planning Act, consent for land division requires approval to ensure it fits within the community planning framework, does not conflict with future planning goals or community policies, and to allow for consideration of how a land division might affect the applicant’s land, neighbours and the community.
Robert Strachan has been a member of the committee for 22 years. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Lanark County Engineer for 26 years before retiring. Greaves commended Strachan for almost 50 years of service to Lanark County.
Dan Murphy has been a member of the committee for 16 years. Greaves acknowledged his long- standing commitment to the work of the committee.
James McIntosh and Doug James have served as members since their appointments in 2019. Both Strachan and Murphy have decided to retire from the Land Division Committee and have not put their names forward for the new four-year term.
“The collective knowledge and experience of these members has provided a tremendous contribution to this committee’s work,” Greaves said. “Thank you for the service you have provided to the county.”
New members for the land division (and other) committees will be confirmed in December.
