Annual Warden’s Golf Tournament supports youth centres
Thanks to the participation of 80 golfers and multiple sponsors, the 2024 Lanark County Warden’s Golf Tournament on Aug. 23 has raised $12,394 to support local youth centres.
“We are proud to support five youth centres this year,” said Warden Steve Fournier (Drummond/North Elmsley Reeve). “They provide important social, educational and recreational programming, services and community participation to enhance the well-being of local youth.”
The centres include Carleton Place Youth Centre, Lanark Highlands Youth Centre, Mississippi Mills Youth Centre, YAK Youth Services (Perth) and We Are Kids (WAK) (Smiths Falls). Between them, they saw more than 10,000 visits and had more than 1,000 registered youth members in 2023, and dedicated community members and youth contributed more than 4,500 volunteer hours.
In addition to having 80 golfers participating in the tournament held at Mapleview Golf and Country Club, four companies provided major sponsorships for the tournament: Vice & Hunter LLP, Mosey & Mosey, Cavanagh Construction, and Crains’ Construction. A full list of sponsors can be found on the county website at: Warden's Golf Tournament - Lanark County.
“Lanark County youth centres provide important programming to youth in our community, and I am hoping this event has raised awareness of the unique challenges and opportunities for youth in rural communities, while also raising funds to help continue much-needed programs,” Fournier said. “I express my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who participated. A special thanks goes to all the sponsors. Your generosity enables us to support these worthy organizations and is a testament to the wonderful community we call home.”
