Blakeney Bridge to remain closed until Spring 2025
Due to unforeseen weather-related challenges, Lanark County Public Works has revised the timeline for the reopening of Blakeney Bridge in Mississippi Mills.
“Unseasonable precipitation and elevated river flows have impacted the progress of essential construction work in the water,” explained Public Works Manager Sean Derouin, adding the flow rates have been three to five times the average, creating unsafe water levels for the work.
To accommodate these delays, construction will temporarily pause for the winter months. Work will resume in April 2025, with an anticipated completion date of late May 2025.
During this period, road closures and signage will remain in place to ensure public safety.
“We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to complete this vital infrastructure improvement.” Derouin said.
