County of Lanark hires new Director of Lanark Lodge

 County of Lanark CAO Kurt Greaves is pleased to announce the appointment of a new director of Lanark Lodge to replace current director Jennie Bingley.

 Ms. Carey Duncan will commence her duties at the Lodge on May 25^th. 

 “We are extremely excited to welcome Carey in her new role,” said Mr. Greaves. “She brings to the position a variety of skills, knowledge and experiences in long-term care and healthcare that will enable her to make a significant contribution to Lanark Lodge, but also Lanark County in its entirety.  Most importantly she encompasses the mission, vision and core values of the Lodge and shares the philosophy of “People Caring for People” and appreciates the important role Lanark Lodge has in our community.  Our team is really excited to develop a sound working relationship with Ms. Duncan.”

 Ms. Duncan holds a Baccalaureate and Master of Science in Nursing and a certificate in Long Term Care Senior Management.  She has held Director of Resident Care and Administrator positions at two other local long-term care homes.

 At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Ms. Duncan felt called to give back to her community through volunteering as a staff screener at Lanark Lodge, which then inspired her to renew her Registered Nursing (RN) license.  Since December 2020, she has been working casually as a Registered Nurse at Lanark Lodge and is held in high regard by staff and residents. 

 “I am honoured and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team at Lanark Lodge, a team that makes an important difference in the lives of our residents, their families, and of the community,” Ms. Duncan said.  “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the incredible team at Lanark Lodge, County Council, and with the great people in our communities.”

 “County Council was unanimous in their support of Ms. Duncan’s appointment as Director of Lanark Lodge.” Warden Christa Lowry said.  “Carey brings an abundance of knowledge, vision and commitment and we expect the organization to thrive under her experienced leadership, sound business judgement and collaborative stewardship.  We look forward to working with her.”

 County Council and Mr. Greaves expressed sincere appreciation to Jennie Bingley, who has served as director since April 2018.
