New tourism and corporate relations coordinator joins the county
Lanark County is pleased to announce Vanessa Dow has been hired for the Tourism and Corporate Relations Coordinator position in the Clerk's department starting on April 3.
Dow come to the Lanark County position with experience in business development, tourism, event coordination, partnership development and executing marketing strategies, most recently with the Smiths Falls & District Chamber of Commerce. In the past year, in partnership with FedDev Ontario and My Main Street, Dow successfully implemented a business support program that brought funding to new and existing small businesses, which involved building strong partnerships and collaborations with a focus on creating tourism-generating events. This is in addition to her responsibilities developing new community events, managing tourism venues, creating marketing materials and administering online marketing communications.
"I look forward to bringing my experience in business development, tourism and community building to help support the promotion and marketing of Lanark County," Dow said. "I am passionate about community development and tourism promotion, and my work experience has given me on-the-ground insight into the unique forces at work in Lanark County tourism."
The tourism and corporate relations position is responsible for developing and implementing tourism-related initiatives at a local, regional and provincial level that support, enhance and align with promotion and marketing of Lanark County. It also oversees the corporate identity portfolio through management of websites (corporate and tourism), social media and media relations (including emergency management).
