Planning to Come
Once you've been offered a bed at Lanark Lodge, make sure you have all the required documents.
You'll need:
- Power of Attorney documents (both for Property and Care);
- First page of the Will showing the executor/executrix of the Will
- Prior year's Notice of Assessment (for residents applying for a rate reduction in basic accommodation).
- A Void cheque will be required to set up Direct Debit;
- Cash or cheque to deposit money into the resident trust account.
If you're part of a couple, consider applying for Involuntary Separation, living apart for reasons beyond their control through Service Canada so you can maximize your government benefits to help pay for your residence here.
You'll need someone to come with you when you move in.
Day of Admission
Arrive promptly at 10:00 A.M. and check in at the Main Reception. You'll meet with our Office Manager for approximately 1 hour to complete the financial paperwork. Once the financial documentation is completed you will meet with a Nurse so that we can gather medical information, fill out forms and consents, so you can get the care you need when you need it. This process will take up to 1 Hour to complete.
Upon completion of the Financial & Nursing Paperwork you and 2 guests can have lunch together.
After lunch your family can begin moving all your furnishings, fixtures through the Staff/Ambulance entrance, directly to your room. All electrical devices such as televisions and lamps must first be inspected by our maintenance department. Your clothes will go to laundry for cleaning and labelling, so you don't lose anything. We recommend packing an over night bag with a pair of pajamas and a set of clean cloths for the next day, while the remainder of your clothing is being labelled.
